WHAT IS BEC
EMERGENCY?
BEC stands for Best Evidence Charting. BEC Emergency
Systems Inc. is an emergency medicine software company
providing best evidence clinical content to emergency
departments worldwide.
From triage to disposition, BEC provides the decision
support tools and best evidence clinical content
required by health care professionals in today's busy
Emergency Departments.
HISTORY
BEC Emergency Systems Inc. is a privately owned Canadian
company incorporated in 1999.
The first BEC product was a paper-based template
charting system that has been used to document care in
over 500,000 patient encounters. Based on client
feedback and ongoing research, the content from this
paper-based system has been converted into a
print-on-demand product, a sophisticated electronic
charting tool AND codified clinical content that can be
imported into any 3rd party EHR or CPOE system.

solutions to emergency department nurses and physicians.
Our goal is to optimize the utilization of best evidence
knowledge at the point of care. BEC supports the early
adoption of best evidence clinical content through the
innovative use of charting solutions that are intuitive
and fun to use. BEC helps EDs (emergency departments)
become more productive, provide high quality care,
reduce error occurrence and improve the health outcomes
of patients. BEC content facilitates both lifelong
learning and clinical research.
